New Lunch Hours!

Reminder:  Our new extended lunch hours began last Saturday, May 10th and were a big hit!  Don't forget we are now serving lunch Wednesday through Saturday from 11:00am-3:00pm.

Friday Night Farmers Market Dinners 5-8pm

Our traditional Farmers Market dinners are served every Friday night from 5:00-8:00pm.  We will be serving our Dinners outside on the deck or inside The Loft restaurant.

This week's Farmers Market Dinner will feature homemade organic Meatloaf made with our 100% Grass-fed beef, accompanied with Macaroni and Cheese made with Traders Point award winning cheeses, green beans and a salad of assorted fresh greens, tomatoes, onion, broccoli, bell peppers and sunflower seeds.

Each meal is served with Iced Tea or Lemonade.  Adult meals will be $15 and Kid portions are $6.50.

We will no longer be able to take reservations so be sure to get here early!

The Green Market

Rain, Rain, Go away, Come again another day!  The Green Market has yet to see the transition from the Red Barn to the lawn out front due to the weather these past few Friday nights.  But, never fear, the vendors are here!  Rain or shine, we host the Green Market every weekend all year long.  If you do not see white tents on the front lawn, then come on around back to the Red Barn.  Local folks who choose to grow or produce their products using sustainable methods-those which are good for the Earth and our bodies-will have all kinds of meats, breads, coffee, tea, mead, soups, salsas, eggs, soap, plants, produce, and dairy products.

This weekend, try out Zen Sheep Farm's bed pillows.  These pillows are very soft!  Nancy's pillows are also considered hypo-allergenic because they are made from wool and not just any wool but wool from Certified Organic Sheep.  You will have to get in line for Mu-Uin Jewelry.  Her sterling silver wire wrapped necklaces and rings are beautiful.  If you are ready to put out garden plants, you can get your vegetable and herb starts from Life Farm or Seldom Seen Farm.  There are lots of tomato varieties, basil, parsley, fennel, and others at both stands.

There isn't enough room to describe every vendor or every product at the Green Market.  So, here's who is planning to be here this Friday, May 16:

Wonderful Fresh Mozzarella cheese! Fresh Mozzarella is no comparison to the commercial variety of mozzarella available in supermarkets. Our Fresh Mozzarella is moist and soft, quick-melting, and has a delicate creamy taste.  Here at Traders Point Creamery we believe that fresh is best which is why we are so excited to be offering our Fresh Mozzarella.  We use our 100% grass fed whole milk to make this soft, delicate Mozzarella cheese.

If you think Mozzarella is strictly used to top a pizza think again!  This seasonal treat is great sliced or diced into any salad, vegetable dish, or entrée and is sure to add a rich, creamy taste that only our 100% grass fed milk can deliver!  You will be able to find our Fresh Mozzarella at our Farm Store, and at Binford, Bloomington, Broad Ripple and Carmel Farmers Markets.

Recipe of the Week

Lettuce Cups with Curried Beef

2 heads of butter lettuce
2 TBS canola oil
1 Cup diced yellow onion
1 tsp minced fresh garlic
1 TBS minced fresh ginger
4 green Serrano chilies, chopped with seeds
1 ½ lbs. Traders Point 100% Grass-fed ground beef
1-2 TBS soy sauce
1 tsp curry powder
1tsp dried mango powder
1 Cup roughly chopped fresh mint
1 Cup roughly chopped fresh basil
1 ½ TBS fresh-squeezed lemon juice
1 TBS toasted sesame oil

Carefully separate the leaves of the lettuce to form cups and pat dry with paper towels.  In a skillet, heat the canola oil on medium. Sauté the onions, garlic, ginger and Serrano chilies until the onions are glassy- About 5-7 minutes.  Add the meat, soy sauce, curry and mango powders. Cook on medium heat, stirring often to break up the meat into very tiny bits with no lumps.  After the spices have been mixed well into the meat, about 5 minutes turn heat down to medium low and cook for an additional 35-40 minutes, until the meat is well cooked and browned.  If the meat becomes too dry stir in 1-2 TBS of hot tap water to keep it moist.  Remove from heat.

Stir in the mint, basil, and lemon juice.  Spoon the mixture into lettuce cups, and drizzle the toasted sesame oil over the top. Serve warm.
