Save the Date - OKTOBERFEST, SUNDAY THE 18th!
Our third annual Oktoberfest will be SUNDAY, OCTOBER 18TH from 12-5pm and we guarantee it will be an amazing day of fun! If you've come in the past, then you know that it's a special day on the Farm. If you've never been, what are you waiting for?
PolkaBoy, the 13-piece power polka band and Indianapolis favorite, will be playing the event from 2-5pm. We will have everything else you'd expect at Oktoberfest: hayrides, bonfires, a pumpkin patch, face painting, and games. In addition, there will be some exciting farm-inspired events: watching cow milking, baby calf petting, and sampling of our award-winning dairy products. We will be selling traditional, Homemade, German food, beer, and wine, as well as Traders Point Creamery's own ice cream, cheeses and hot chocolate. We will be serving Bloomington's Upland Brewing Co. festive fall beers.
Tickets are $8 in advance, or $10 at the event. Children under 10 years old free. Advance tickets can be picked up at Trader's Point Creamery or online at www.traderspointcreamery.com.
Oktoberfest is a fundraiser which benefits Greater Historic Traders Point, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting greenspace in the Traders Point Area.
Needed: Volunteers for Oktoberfest!
Oktoberfest is quickly approaching! We need volunteers to fill 3- hour slots from 11:00 am until 6:30 pm on Sunday, October 18. Many of you have volunteered in the past, and we thank you so very much! This project benefits us all and is our only fundraiser of the year. Please volunteer for a three hour shift during the event--it will be great fun.
Our goal for this year’s Oktoberfest is to raise enough money to complete signage to designate and highlight our districts. Greater Historic Traders Point, a 501(c)(3) green space preservation group, is hosting its third annual Oktoberfest on the Farm. This event began in 2007 to raise funds for the completion of two rural historic districts. We work closely with the group to put on the event.
Please contact Cindy Lamberjack at 250-6504 or email her at c_lamberjack001@comcast.net to set up a volunteer time.
If you are unable to volunteer, but would still like to help, please consider donating to the Traders Point Rural Historic Districts. Checks may be made payable to Greater Historic Traders Point and may be sent to:

Maria's Green Market Piece
Friday Night Farmer’s Markets Move to Big, Lighted, Warm Red Barn
How many other farmer’s markets in the area keep you, the customer, and our loyal vendors comfortable with an indoor venue for the cooler and wetter parts of the year? We do!
For the remaining four Fridays of the Summer Green Market, please support your favorite vendors by visiting them in the Red Barn on Friday nights from 4-8 PM. Rain, shine or cold, they will be there with the best the fall field and kitchen have to offer. Imagine—5 kinds of autumn apples from one farm alone, plus winter squashes and cooking/baking pumpkins with names and appearances so unusual, you’ll have to ask for a personality profile for each one of them. Meat and eggs are in good supply, as are baked goods, creative prepared foods, and health-promoting fermented vegetables and beverages. We even offer healthy skin care, meet your need for fresh coffee beans, and offer something healthy for your pet!
Thanks for your ongoing support. Our vendors are here for you.

Recipe of the Week
Cooler weather makes many of us yearn for a good, thick, homemade soup. Here's a quick and yummy one - and you can pick up potatoes at the Green Market on Friday.
POTATO SOUP
- 6 cups diced potatoes
- 3 stalks celery, diced
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 3 (14.5 ounce) cans chicken broth, divided
- 4 cups (1 bottle) Trader's Point Creamery Whole Milk
- 6 tablespoons butter, melted
- 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- chopped bacon, if desired, for garnish
In a large pot, bring potatoes, celery and onion to a boil in 2 cups of broth. Cook until potatoes are tender, 15 minutes. Drain and reserve liquid. Combine reserved broth and milk in pot. In a bowl, combine melted butter and flour. Stir into milk mixture over medium heat. Stir until thickened. Stir in reserved vegetables, remaining broth, and pepper. Heat through and serve.
Quote of the Week
"A good meal soothes the soul as it regenerates the body. From the abundance of it flows a benign benevolence. A good and copius dinner begets a mellowing influence; it permeates the bosom with a bland philanthropy of sentiment, embracive of all classes, sects and races of man.”
Frederick W. Hackwood, Good Cheer (1911)
