Sundown Safari and Safari Sundays

Safari Rides

Have you seen the "rustic", outback ready, Range Rover parked in front of our Green Market?  Want to know what it is and where it goes?  Well, stick around after the Green Market on Friday evenings!  You can cruise all over the farm on this 30 minute tour, as you meander along taking in the sights all around.  Love the idea, but not sure that you can make the late evening trip?  Then come over on Sunday afternoon for Safari Sundays-same Range Rover, same farm, but a with bright, daylight experience. The kids will love it, and so will you!

Best of all (or at least some of us think so), all Safari trips end with a sweet treat at the Dairy Bar!

  • Safari times:  Friday at dusk or Sunday afternoons (12-4 pm)
  • Safari prices: $10 per person, including the "Dairy Bar" Safari treat!

Sean McBride - Our New Director of Culinary Operations

Sean McBride - Our New Director of Culinary Operations

Sean is an Indiana native and 12-year restaurant veteran in Indianapolis. He has championed service and operations standards for such Indianapolis originals as The Claddagh Irish Pub and the former Café Nora. Throughout his career, the passion for food and wine has driven numerous menus in the city and led him to Traders Point Creamery to develop and expand current operations. Sean is an accomplished sommelier, winning awards from Wine Spectator for excellence in wine lists, standards and service.
His management background spans over nearly a decade in Indianapolis in upscale casual and fine dining. Culinary and administrative talents recently earned Sean an Executive Chef position and bridged the gap between the service and libations, and the backbone of quality cuisine.

Amidst a flurry of new TPC dinner offering roll-outs and operational streamlining, Sean is enjoying life of the farm with his new Traders Point family. Challenges are around every corner and areas of opportunity aplenty, but this is the reason Sean has been brought here by the forces of nature. Sean resides on the northside with his wife, Kelly, and their two amazing children, Ava (6) and Kian (11 months).

Sean, may you and your family find success and happiness at the Farm!

Watch our Garden Grow and Come Eat It!

Watch our Garden Grow and Come Eat It!

If you've come to the Green Market recently, you may have noticed that our garden is in "full harvest mode."  We are reaping the fruits (vegetables and herbs) of our labor daily, and we would like to share them with you.

The Loft is serving up what is grown just a few hundred feet away:  fresh basil and heirloom tomatoes, dill to accompany creamy soups, zucchini and other squashes for main dishes or side dishes. We even have Sauteed Swiss Chard!

From Apples to Okra, Chicken to Strip Steak-Find It at the Green Market

From Apples to Okra, Chicken to Strip Steak-Find It at the Green Market

The days are shortening and the nights are cooling, which means fall is not far away. However, you would never guess by the wealth of produce at our Farmer's Market.  Take a look at the giant bell peppers from Magnolia Mill Farm, or pick up one of the many colorful eggplants or squashes around the market-you will see what we mean. Farming for Life, best known for their lacto-fermented products, is treating us once again to lettuce heads that are almost too pretty to eat. Cool weather cooking greens, such as kale at Redwine Farm and the mustard greens of Seldom Seen Farm are coming back as well.

For each of your favorite vegetables, you can find a meat to match. Try a roasting chicken from Seven Springs Farm, or take advantage of the special meat deals at Swiss Connection. This week, Swiss Connection are offering free strip steaks with the purchase of two packages of chuck/arm roast.  If ribs or sausage are what you crave, visit Phelps Family Farm's booth. Whatever your dinnertime wishes, our friendly family farmers are here for you with fresh products and cooking tips. Bring your shopping bags and let the fun begin!

Easy Tapioca Pudding

As the days start to cool and dark descends earlier, this easy to cook pudding sounds like just the thing for a comforting, after dinner treat.  Serve it while it is still warm or cold.

  • 2 TBSP. butter
  • 1/2 cup tapioca pearls (1/8 inch wide, not instant)
  • 4 cups Traders Point Creamery Whole Milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • cinammon stick (or ground cinammon)
  • zest of 1 lemon, if desired

Melt butter in a saucepan and pour in tapioca pearls. Cook for 2 minutes. Add  milk and sugar. Add  cinnamon stick, or ground cinaommon. Simmer, stirring occasionally, until the tapioca is translucent and soft, 30 to 40 minutes. Stir in the lemon zest before serving.  Serves 4.
