The Farm Store
Unfortunately, we were not able to complete our maintenance projects last weekend. The Farm Store must close again this Sunday, February 24 at 5:00pm. We are sorry for the inconvenience; but, must ask that you plan accordingly. Thank you for your help in this matter. We will return to regular business hours Monday, February 25.
Sandra Holland's Raw Milk Soap
Have you ever tried the soap for sale in the farm store? Have you ever wondered where it comes from or who makes it? A friend of the farm, Sandra Holland, comes by every other month to pick up her supply of raw milk and drop off our newest inventory! That's right-those soaps for sale in the farm store are made from the milk right here at Traders Point Creamery. She starts with raw milk; mixes in some more good stuff like rosemary, oat bran or even egg shells; then cures; and cuts the soap. We put the labels on when they get here.
Sandy also produces the Glycerin Soap, Facial Soap, and Lip Juice that we carry in the store. The Glycerin Soap is a pure bar of good, clean fun. I hope you read the label. You will not find any long, hard-to-pronounce words! Look for the new "Sweet Beet" bars to arrive soon. They're red! The Facial Soap is a plastic pump bottle full of liquid soap. I purchase this for my son. It is easy to transport in his sport bag and good for the whole body. The Lip Juice is the best lip balm I have ever used. Beware, you are lucky to get it as we sell out the weekend it arrives!
So, just like the other products you'll find at Traders Point Creamery, we have your health in mind even when it comes to soap. Pure clean. Check out what's available in the farm store everyday from 8am-6pm. If you don't see what you are looking for, just ask and we'll order it for you. If you like what you got so much that you want to pre-order for the next shipment, we can arrange that too.
The Green Market
What a great time we had at The Green Market last weekend! The Endangered Species Chocolate booth is a big hit for young and old alike as they have samples of their new organic line of chocolate bars! It is never to early for really good (and good for you) chocolate!
In other news, Mr. Hoover of Hoover's Country Store says the maple sap is running! He had five jars of maple syrup last weekend that sold out quickly. Just know that the weather has to be right for the sap to be running so even though he had some last weekend, he may not have any this weekend. Mr. Green of Bluffwood Creek Honey says this may be his last weekend with honey. Then, he's going on vacation for a couple of weeks; but, will return with Creamed Honey in early March. The Swiss Connection is still selling ice cream for all of you who like this cold weather. Actually, they sell it year round; but, have you seen their list of flavors? I noted the usual varieties and raised an eyebrow at the Orange Chocolate Chip, Lemon, and Maple Nut. There are too many other items at our farmers market to list. You just
have to come out and see for yourself!

Recipe of the Week
Congratulations to all you ladies and gentlemen that made your reservations far in advance of Valentine's Day for our special dinner in the loft. For those of you who were disappointed that we had a full house all three nights, we have included the recipe for our Winter Pot Roast here in this week's recipe section. I might suggest preparing it your self for a loved one-even put a candle or two on the table-if you are still in the dog house for not making your reservations sooner!
The roast Brandon used in this recipe came from the farm store. We carry a variety of 100% Grass Fed beef cuts including tenderloins; sirloin, t-bone, and round steaks; soup bones; ground beef; rump, chuck and the arm roast Brandon used. The chuck roast we sell can be substituted for the arm roast in the recipe.
Traders Point Creamery Café Pot Roast
3 lbs. Traders Point Creamery 100% Grass Fed Arm Roast
2 onions, peeled and sliced
3 ribs of celery chopped
4 carrots, peeled and chopped
4 cloves of garlic sliced
2 cups of red wine
2 quarts beef broth
salt and pepper to taste
4 tablespoons of vegetable oil
Traders Point Creamery Whole Milk Yogurt
Prepare all the vegetables and place in a bowl and set aside. Meanwhile season the roast with salt and pepper. Place the oil in a 4 quart sauce pan over medium high heat. Gently place the meat into the hot pan (if the roast will not fit into the pan cut it into a size that will make it fit). Turn the roast to brown on all sides. When the roast is brown on all sides take out of the pan and let rest. Now add the vegetables to the pan the roast just came out of. Reduce to a medium heat. When the vegetables become soft, deglaze the pan by pouring in the red wine and scraping all sides and bottom of the pan. Add the roast back to the pan when done. Cook until the wine is reduced to half then add the beef broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer and cover. Cook for at least 2 hours or until the beef becomes so tender that it falls apart. Adjust seasoning
with salt and pepper and serve topped with Traders Point Creamery Whole Milk Yogurt. Enjoy, then send your comments to info@traderspointcreamery.com! This recipe takes about thirty minutes of prep and about 2 ½ hours to cook. It serves six.
Thanks to Brandon Hamilton for sharing his secret recipe and for making Valentine's Day especially good for all of our guests.
