Celebrate Summer at The Loft With Our New Menu
Summer is here and the The Loft menu is highlighting its bounty!
As always, The Loft is serving fantastic food, with only the freshest, organic, good-for-you and good-tasting ingredients. Try one of our homemade soups, fresh summer salad (all with homemade dressings), 100% grass-fed burgers, or a mouthwatering BLT.
You can celebrate the best that summer has to offer with our Caprese Salad. Thick slices of local heirloom tomatoes and fresh TPC mozzarella cheese topped with
fresh basil pesto, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar. The flavor explodes in your mouth! Make a trip to the Farm and eat the Best Thing in Town!
Or try a Barn Raisin' BLT. Toasted wheat bread loaded with thick hand-cut bacon, lettuce, tomato, and garlic aioli. We'll add two of our own Trader's Point Creamery farm-fresh eggs if you like. Enjoy the freshest lettuce and tomatoes you can get - grown close to home, and picked at their peak. The fresh veggies are complimented by Gunthorpe's hand-cut bacon, which just screams with flavor. This is what grandpa had after a hard day at the neighbor's barn raising. Maybe you haven't been barn raising, but wouldn't one of these taste perfect after the soccer game, your bike ride, or before you go mow the lawn?!?
Come on in - we know you're going to love the summer menu!

Strawberry (Yogurt) Season
Trader's Point Creamery is pleased to have added Strawberry Yogurt of the roundup! Our amazing European style yogurt has been voted “America’s Best” by the American Cheese Society for the last two years. We're sure that the Strawberry Yogurt will help us continue this tradition.
We don’t use stabilizers for our drinkable style yogurt. Our Strawberry Yogurt is simply non-homogenized organic milk, a proprietary blend of live yogurt cultures, and pure organic strawberry puree. Just like mom would have made (well, maybe if mom was living on a farm in Germany!)
Pick up a quart of our scrumptious Strawberry Yogurt in stores and on the farm!
It's creamy, light and delicious...perfect for summer (although you might pick up a year round habit, once you try it!)
If you really want to see the Strawberry Yogurt at its finest, try a STRAWBERRY SMOOTHIE at the Dairy Bar! Or make the "Terrific (Strawberry)Trifle" recipe in this newsletter.
We just can't say enough about our sensational yogurt! If you'd like to join us, feel free to send us your favorite ways to use our yogurts, comments, an "Ode to TPC Yogurt" poem - whatever is on your mind - it doesn't have to be culture(d)!
Strawberry Yogurt is available at stores that sell our products - in the Indy area, all over Indiana, Chicago-land, Ohio, and at some select stores nationwide! Please feel free to e-mail us and we'll let you know where you can find the closest quart of Trader's Point Creamery's Strawberry Yogurt!
Watch Our Cows Being Milked From 4 - 6 Daily
You love our creamy, grass-fed, organic milk, so come to the Farm and see the cows being milked in our milking parlor. We milk our cows each day from 4 to 6 p.m. Stand alongside the farmer, and see how we obtain the rich, nutritious milk used to make our delicious Traders Point Creamery products!
Want to know more information about the workings of our Farm and Creamery?...Take a tour! You'll see our cows grazing on their delicious, nutrient rich, organic grass; the chickens pecking away and enhancing the soil at the same time; the verdant rolling pasture that makes up our farm, and Eagle Creek, which provides a beautiful backdrop for the farm.
Save the best for last: cow + pasture = MILK!
Stop by the Farm Store and purchase a $2 Self-Guided Tour.

Farmer's Market
Babies, Berries and Bees
With the start of summer comes many good things, and here are some of the best:
We haven't had a new baby among the vendors for quite a while, but Seldom Seen Farm changed all that last Saturday. Kelly Funk and John Ferree added Laila Ann Ferree to their family just before 1:00 PM. At a healthy 8.4 pounds and 21 inches, little Laila will probably be out helping her folks pick peas before we know it. Mom and baby are doing well, and we hear John is adjusting nicely to his perfectly-timed Father's Day gift. Cards and well-wishes can be left with Melissa at the Seldom Seen Farm table.
Wild raspberries are early this year, and Redwine Farms is likely to have some for you this week. Stop by and get a few, along with Jacob's great lettuce heads, other chemical-free veggies, and fresh eggs.
Berries (and many other crops) don't happen without bees, and those at Bluffwoood Creek Apiary have been extra busy making honey (and gathering pollen as a bonus) for you. Rob will have his bee pollen available for the first time this season. It always goes fast, so e-mail Rob at honey@bluffwoodcreek.com if you would like him to hold some for you.
New vendors are always good, so please welcome our newest vendor, Kelsey Tepas, of Kelsey's Cultured Foods, joining us for the first time this Friday. She will be offering a variety of organic cultured vegetables for you to try.
Finally, please note that Zen Sheep Farm and Magnolia Mill Farm will be gone for the next two weeks and will re-join us on July 10.

Recipe of the Week
Trader's Point Terrific Strawberry Trifle
Perfect for a summer brunch or a fruity dessert to end a dinner party! Make it a few hours ahead, as it needs to be refrigerated before serving.
- 1 quart strawberries, stems removed
- 1 tbsp. powdered sugar
- 4 tbsp. orange-flavored liqueur
- 3 tbsp. orange juice
- 3 cups of Trader's Point Creamery Strawberry Yogurt
- 5 cups of assorted berries - whatever's in season or sound good!
- 2 pound cakes, high quality store-bought is fine (and easiest!)
Make strawberry sauce: place strawberries and powdered sugar in a blender for 1 minute. Add 1 tbsp. of the liqueur.
In a bowl, combine orange juice and 3 tbsp. liquer.
Assemble trifle: spoon 1/2 cup of yogurt, add 1/3 of the cake cubes and press lightly to make flat. Sprinkle cake with 2 tbsp. orange juice mixture. Spoon 2 cups of berries on top of cake layer, pressing lightly to make berry layer flat. Drizzle berries with 3 tbsp of strawberry sauce. Repeat yogurt, cakes cubes, orange juice mixture, berries, strawberry sauce layering two more times. Refrigerate for at least two hours. Garnish with mint, if desired.
Quote of the Week
As cook in your kitchen you enjoy an omniscience about your food that no amount of supermarket study or label reading could hope to match. Having retaken control of the meal from the food scientists and processors, you know exactly what is and is not in it: There are no questions about high-fructose corn syrup, or ethoxylated diglycerides, or partially hydrogenated soy oil, for the simple reason that you didn't ethoxylate or patially hydrogenate anything, not did you add any additives...To reclaim this much control over one's food, to take it back from industry and science, is no small thing; indeed, in our time cooking from scratch and growing any of your own food qualify as subversive acts.
